The oldest monastery church in the entire Herceg – Bosnia is in Humac, only 10 kilometers away from Medjugorje. In the Franciscan monastery of St. Anthony of Padua in Humac is the oldest museum in Bosnia and Herzegovina , established in 1884. In the renovated museum items are exhibited collected over a wide area of Herzegovina from the Old Stone Age (Paleolithic ) to the present day. The museum also contains Humacka ploca from 1185, the oldest preserved monument written in the Croatian language. The Franciscan Monastery of St. Anthony of Padua in Humac has a rich collection of about 300 works of art permanently exhibited in a gallery called “Mother”.
